LPG gas cylinders are safe when they are stored, transported and used correctly. Always follow the instructions supplied with your gas appliance and cylinder.

🔥 Using Your Gas Bottle

  • Always use the correct regulator and hose for your cylinder and appliance.
  • Check hoses, regulators and connections regularly for signs of damage or wear.
  • Keep the cylinder upright and secure when in use.
  • Use gas appliances only in the way intended by the manufacturer.
  • Never modify a cylinder, regulator or gas appliance.

🏠 Storing Your Cylinder

  • Store cylinders upright and secured so they cannot fall over.
  • Keep them in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors where appropriate.
  • Keep cylinders away from sources of heat, flames and ignition.
  • Do not store LPG cylinders in enclosed areas such as basements or below ground level.
  • Keep cylinders away from children and animals.

🚗 Transporting a Gas Bottle

When transporting a cylinder:

  • Keep it upright and secured so it cannot move around.
  • Ensure the vehicle is well ventilated.
  • Do not leave a cylinder in a hot vehicle unnecessarily.
  • Transport only what you need and remove the cylinder from the vehicle when you arrive.

⚠️ If You Smell Gas

If you smell gas:

  1. Do not smoke or use naked flames.
  2. Do not switch electrical switches on or off.
  3. If it is safe to do so, turn off the cylinder valve.
  4. Move away from the area and allow it to ventilate naturally where possible.
  5. If you believe there is a significant leak or an immediate danger, move to a safe location and contact the appropriate emergency service.

Never try to repair a leaking cylinder or gas appliance yourself.
